Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as acetal, polyacetal, and polyformaldehyde, is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts that require high stiffness, low friction and excellent dimensional stability.
It was discovered by Hermann Staudinger, a German chemist who received the 1953 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He studied the polymerization and structure of POM in the 1920s to research the theory of macromolecules, which he characterized as polymers. Due to initial problems with thermal stability, POM was not commercialized.
First synthesized by DuPont research chemists around 1952, the company filed for patent protection of the homopolymer in 1956 and completed construction of a plant to produce Delrin at Parkersburg, West Virginia, in 1960. Celanese completed its study on a copolymer in 1960, producing Celcon in 1962 and Hostaform in 1963 in Kelsterbach, Germany, under a limited partnership with Ticona.
Good mechanical properties and rigidity, and close to
the metal material. Its an ideal replacement material
of copper, cast zinc, steel, aluminum and other metal
materials. Excellent fatigue resistance and creep
resistance. Good abrasion resistance, self-lubricated
and friction. POM Sheet together with UHMWPE, PA, F4
are known as the four wear-resistant plastic
materials. High thermal stability, good chemical
stability and excellent electrical insulation. It is
the first material choice for manufacturing gear.
Apply to gears, springs, bearings, connecting rod,
impeller blades, toys, windows, water tanks and
washing basins of the industry in Machinery,
Automobile, Electronic and electrical.

Specifications:
1. High hardness and density. Small abrasion
consumption, impact fatigue and shock resistance,
small coefficient friction, and
self-lubricating.
2. High mechanical strength and rigidity. Although
the contraction rate is high, the dimension is
stable.
3. Good dielectric properties, solvent resistance,
non-stress cracking.
4. Torsional resistance, it can be restored to their
original when removed the external force.
5. Poor acid resistance,

UV.
